Tokyo Eat

Art Book Magazine

That’s Painting is both a house-painting business and the artistic project of Bernard Brunon. It can come to get work done both for individuals and institutions. It repaints your walls and those of museums, between two house moves or between exhibitions. But that’s real, artistic painting work too: beyond the monochrome, beyond the visible or invisible, it questions its own status and that of the work of art, its conceptual reality as well as its permanence and its value - both financial and plastic.
Printed in 200 copies by an artisan printer, this edition documents very completely the “project-work” Tokyo Eat, carried out by the firm in 2003 on the walls of the catering space at the Palais de Tokyo. Here you can find the contracts and the plans, the letters exchanged between the different parties, the negotiations and the misunderstandings; a text by Bernard Brunon and an introduction by Hélène Sirven; views of the work site; a homage to Ellsworth Kelly...
The digital edition provides a selection of images from the CD that was included with the original edition, as well as a new introduction by Yvon Nouzille.
